Jivon Jackson

Jivon Lee Jackson is a native Washingtonian with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, from Howard University, and a master’s degree in Marketing Management from University of Maryland. In 1998 he fell in love with the stage & performing. That passion evolved into stage management , directing & producing. He has a diverse theatre career over the last 24 years and have focused on exposing young people to theater arts, including running a theater arts summer program at St. Paul Church in Oxon Hill, MD, serving as a promoter for Culture Kingdom Kids, and producing children/youth friendly plays including the Wiz at the John Addison Performing Arts Auditorium. He previously worked in the Communications Department at the National Endowment for the Arts, served as the Director of Marketing at Tantallon Players; a community theater group, and was a Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) judge.
Jivon has worked with numerous theater companies and cultural organizations throughout the region including the John Addison Performing Arts Center, Dominion Stage, H Street Playhouse, the Studio Theater, Rockville Musical Theater, Metropolitan Ebony Theatre and Anacostia Playhouse, Atlas Theater, and the Ira Aldridge Theatre. On stage he has performed before diverse audiences in Dreamgirls, Take Me Out, Fat Pig, Damage Control, Jesus Hoped the A Train, Two Trains Running, Promises, A Soldier’s Play, Othella, and King Willie. Additionally, he has produced productions of Seven Guitars, The Color Purple, The Wiz and August: Osage County for the Tantallon Community Players, Chocolate Covered Ants for Restoration Stage and Katrina Monologues for Anacostia Playhouse.
Jivon is currently employed with DC Government with the Developmental Disabilities Council and has been an independent media and performing arts consultant for the past 12 years.
