We are proud to announce that we were recently awarded a Creative Neighborhood Grant through the City of Alexandria Office of the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. This September, we will host a series of creative writing workshops for Alexandria youth, focused on poetry, monologues, short stories, and one-acts. These workshops will be help at the Charles Houston Recreation Center from September 10, through October 1st and will also include live performances from local artists. The entire event is free to the general public, and youth participants will have an opportunity to have their creative writing works adjudicated for cash prizes. The winner of the one-act writing category will also have their play workshopped and fully stage produced by Momentum Collective Inc. in 2023.
This grant will afford us the opportunity to further our mission while deepening artistic excellence among youth in the community.
This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. To find out more about how National Endowment for the Arts grants impact individuals and communities, visit www.arts.gov.
